    The City of Whitewater is seeking a professional to fill our Accountant position. This person performs a variety of skilled, professional accounting duties for a specific area requiring detailed knowledge of established bookkeeping and accounting principles and procedures. The position also performs recurring and moderately complex clerical accounting assignments in accordance with standard operating procedures and precedents, specifically, but not limited to, the areas of payroll, benefits administration, and accounts payable.

    Education and/or Experience includes:
    *Associates or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school with course work in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, preferred.
    *Five (5) to eight (8) years of increasingly responsible related experience, preferably in governmental accounting, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience that provides requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the position.
    *Complete the three year Municipal Treasurers Institute offered through Municipal Treasurers Association of Wisconsin (MTAW) and the University of Green Bay.

    Annual Salary up to $53,560.00 plus excellent benefits through the State of Wisconsin. The City of Whitewater also participates in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS.)
