    The City of Waupun, Wisconsin seeks an experienced professional to serve as Assistant City Administrator/Finance Director. The role will be responsible for leadership of the City’s finance and managerial operations, supporting the City Administrator. Waupun is located on the southern branch of the Rock River in southcentral Wisconsin. Small town charm and a strong sense of community abound in this city of just over 11,000 people.     The salary for the position ranges from $85,000 to $100,000 DOQ, plus excellent benefits that include support for relocation of up to $15,000. Waupun is fiscally sound, with low debt and healthy reserves. A $12.8M total annual budget supports 42FT and 72PT employees. The Assistant City Administrator/Finance Director is appointed by and reports to the City Administrator. The Assistant City Administrator/Finance Director serves as staff advisor to the City Administrator as well as to the Mayor and 7-member Common Council and to all departments on financial matters for the City. The position also manages municipal information technology and communications systems and leads the organization’s continuous improvement efforts. In the absence of the City Administrator, the position serves in that capacity.

    Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, finance or a related field. An advanced degree in public or business administration or a related field is preferred as well as project management experience. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible municipal budgeting/finance and government accounting experience is preferred but those with private sector experience in these areas are also encouraged to apply. An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities desired may be considered.

    The successful candidate must possess exceptional budgeting and planning skills to ensure that the City can continue to provide superior services to its citizens in light of strict statutory levy limits. The Assistant City Administrator/Finance Director will lead a three-person finance department and should be an approachable teambuilder who possesses open and positive communication skills and has a collaborative leadership style.
