    About the Team:
    Our Finance team is growing! We are looking to add a skilled and experienced Accountant to the Finance team, where you will work alongside talented and bright professionals who are passionate about what they do.

    About the Role:
    This position is responsible for assisting in the proper administration of the financial affairs and fiscal records of the City and ensuring the City remains within the budgeted authority. This position provides a high level of support and analytics to the Finance Director and provides support to the Payroll Specialist.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Maintain the City’s general ledger for all funds. Finalize and reconcile account records monthly. Reconcile combined cash and investment accounts.
    • Review all journal entries posted to the accounting records to ensure appropriateness.
    • Monitor budget and actual amounts to identify projected variances and assist departments with submitting budget amendment requests.
    • Prepare transaction reports for the Finance Committee. File periodic reports with other authorities including pet licenses, 1099 filings, unclaimed funds filings, franchise fee reports, room tax reports, TID reports, delinquent tax chargebacks, omitted property sharing, mobile home filing, etc.
    • Monitor special assessments and special charges. Transfer amounts to the property tax roll.
    • Assist in the calculation of the property tax roll and reconciliation of settlement with overlying jurisdictions.
    • Track capital expenditures by project, including expenditures paid with debt and grant proceeds.
    • Monitor TID development agreements and submit paperwork to pay developer incentive payments.
    • Assist in external audits. Assist in the preparation of financial statements and state and federal reports.
    • Perform quality control review of purchasing requests for large projects submitted by Departments to ensure compliance with budget authority and purchasing policies. Create purchase order once fully approved.
    • Assist in distribution, compilation, analysis, review, and preparation of annual capital improvement plan and operating budget processes.
    • Complete periodic inventory counts to ensure accuracy.
    Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Tax collection duties including phone calls from residents with questions about their tax bills and/or payments.
    • Back up for payroll functions.
    • Special projects assigned by Finance Director.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Supervisory Requirements:
    • None

    Education and/or Experience Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related field with accounting major coursework required.
    • Minimum of two years of experience.
    • Experience with fund accounting and utility accounting preferred but not required.
    • Eligibility for Certified Public Account (CPA) and/or Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) preferred.
