    General Overview of the Position:
    The purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Finance in directing all aspects of city financial accounting, reporting, recordkeeping, budget preparation, budget administration, payroll oversight and supervision or related city personnel according to applicable practices, standards, ordinances and statutes.

    Examples of Essential Duties:
    -Plans, assigns and directs the activities of the professional and clerical staff in the Finance Department, including prioritizing projects, maintaining changes in work schedule and scheduling for absences and/or peak periods.

    -Oversees management of general ledger.

    -Approves journal entries and non-routine entries into accounting records and makes necessary adjustments.

    -Prepares the annual City budget under guidelines established by the Mayor and the Common Council.

    -Coordinates and supervises the annual audit by independent accountants and the preparation and completion of the Annual Financial Report of the City.

    -Plans, directs and supervises the preparation and completion of City financial reports and analyzes budget reports as well as other financials.

    -Directs and assists in the preparation of legally required federal and state reports.

    -Coordinates the administration of the adopted budget.

    -Directs and approves fund transfers as requested or required.

    -Manage financial software package including adding new users and establishing roles & permissions.

    -Develops and maintains departmental procedural and financial policies.

    -Prepare Tax roll, calculate tax rates, import special assessments & charges, create print file.

    -Establishes and maintains an effective relationship with other City departments and outside agencies.

    -Assists the Director of Finance in the administration of all activities and serves in the Director’s absence.

    -Performs other duties as may be assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    -Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
    -Five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting.
    -1-2 years direct supervisory experience.
    Preferred Qualifications:

    -CPA, MPA, MBA, or CPFO preferred
