    Waite Park, MN (pop. 7,700) Waite Park, a thriving, progressive community in the St. Cloud, Minnesota MSA, seeks innovation and collaborative leaders as candidates for its next Finance Director. Traversed by Interstate 94, Minnesota Highways 23 and 15 and county highway 75, with over 130,000 cars passing through the community daily, Waite Park is a retail and commercial destination for the region. In addition to a large variety of large retailers, the city has over 30,000 square feet of convention and hotel space.

    The city is known for its recreation. River Edge Park, a 42-acre city facility along the Sauk River, has hosted several regional, state, and national baseball tournaments and also offers pickleball, walking trails and an outdoor fitness court. The city also boasts a connection to the Lake Wobegon state trail and a future connection to the Glacial Lake state trails. Quarry Park, a 600-acre county facility that attracts over 150,000 visitors for swimming, hiking, cross country skiing and bird watching is also located within Waite Park. Finally, the brand new 5,000 seat city owned Ledge Amphitheater will open in 2021 and will host national and regional entertainers.

    The Finance Director reports to the City Administrator and serves as part of the city’s executive leadership team. The Finance Director oversees and manages the city’s budget process for a $9 million general fund, annual capital projects of $2 to $3 million and special revenue funds of $1.4 million. The water utility operating fund is $2 million as is the sewer fund. The city also receives $1.3 million in local option sales tax funds annually. The finance director coordinates the work of the accounting staff and city clerk. The finance director also administers the city’s tax increment financing districts.

    Waite Park is a full-service city. There are approximately 46 full time and 15 part time employees serving the City of Waite Park as well as 30 paid on-call firefighters.

    CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

    • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
    • A Master’s Degree, CPA or CPFO designation is a plus, as is prior experience in a governmental accounting.
    • A combination of experience and education may be substituted for these qualifications.
    • Candidates should be highly collaborative with a communicative, team oriented and approachable management style.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    Starting salary is $94,891.66 – 127,389.28 DOQ. The city offers a comprehensive benefits package.
