Salary Range: $72,501 – $82,855/year based on qualifications
The City of Oshkosh is seeking a skilled Financial Analyst/Accountant to join our Finance Department. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will play a crucial role in supporting accounting, budgeting, and financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Budget Coordination and Support: Assist in the development and administration of the annual operating and capital budgets, including coordinating with departments, reviewing requests, preparing analyses, and drafting budget documents.
• Accounting and Audit Support: Assist with maintaining the general and subsidiary ledgers and journals, which includes preparing journal entries and account reconciliations. Assist with the annual audit by preparing workpapers, compiling supporting schedules, and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Departmental Support and Collaboration: Provide departmental support on accounting principles, budget preparation, and financial system functionality. Collaborate with other City departments on grant reporting and requirements.
• Reporting and Project Support: Prepare and/or compile reports for the Long Range Finance Committee (LRFC) and Common Council meetings. Assist the Finance management team with projects. This can include reviewing and analyzing existing finance policies and procedures. Make recommendations and assist in the updating of current or development of new policies and procedures.Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance OR
• Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Finance combined with three (3) or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in financial analysis or accounting.
• Experience with Governmental Fund Accounting is preferred.
• Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial accounting systems, and procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Benefits:
