Salary $48,494 – $66,015
To be responsible for the recording, classifying and summarizing of financial transactions in the Finance Department. This includes the establishment of a financial reporting system to assure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports and to ensure that financial matters in the Finance Department are processed consistent with generally accepted accounting principles, practices and procedures.
Process Accounts Payable payments and reports including voiding and stale dating AP and payroll checks.
Assist in the analysis and verification of financial reports and statements, accounts and records of expenditures, revenues, and other financial transactions.
Prepare various financial reports as requested.
Develop new techniques in accounting methods which will facilitate the gathering and presentation of accurate accounting information.
Work with and prepare analysis work sheets for external audit personnel.
Perform internal audit on cash drawer, petty cash and other special projects under the direction of the Finance Director and Accounting Operations Manager.
Liaison with various departments providing accounting support and billing services.
Monitor prepaid, accounts payable, accounts receivable and all tax GL accounts
Prepare and monitor County bank reconciliations.
Prepare and enter journal entries as needed.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Receives general supervision from the Accounting Operations Manager.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and three (3) years recent accounting, finance or auditing experience preferred.
Familiarity with Governmental Accounting practices preferred.
Prompt and regular attendance.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Thorough knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting procedures.
Working knowledge of personal computers (PC’s), computerized accounting and spreadsheets.
Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with all levels of the organization.
Ability to work independently and make independent decisions.
Ability to exercise professional discretion in assisting coworkers and other employees.
