Walworth County is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant (Public Works). This position is responsible for oversight of assigned department’s financial budget, fiscal planning and implementation of new programs, monitoring the daily use of the general ledger software and ensuring maximum reimbursement from external funding sources through governmental reporting. This position will assist assigned departments in budgeting, accounting, and reporting to ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with accounting guidelines, county policies, state statutes, legal compliance, audit compliance and in supporting county department heads related to financial functions. This position is responsible for overseeing capital asset transactions of county departments. This position is specifically assigned to public works and capital projects activities related to accounting, budgeting, and reporting.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field, or formal preparation equivalent to a four-year program with three to five years of experience is required. Knowledge of budget, governmental accounting and/or public works accounting preferred as well as knowledge of computer system capabilities as they apply to financial records.
