Department: Accountant Operations
Reports To: Manager, Accounting
Travel: MinimalLOCATION: Green Bay
STANDARD HOURS: 40 hours per week. Typical hours Monday – Friday 8:00 am -5:00 pm; Flexibility required to include other evening and/or weekend hours, as necessary.
SALARY RANGE: $58,916 – $63,499 per year
*Salaries/Wages for all finalists (internal and external) will be placed within the range based upon education, experiences, current wages, and internal equity.POSITION SUMMARY
The Accountant is responsible for supporting operations of the college by managing accounting functions, ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards, and preparing accurate financial reports.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Organize, prepare, and update financial statements, monthly and year-end journal entries, ledgers, and reports for various financial needs to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions.
• Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Wisconsin Technical College System Financial & Administrative Manual, and institutional policies.
• Prepare and analyze financial data, reports and records, identify discrepancies, investigate, recommend, and implement solutions as needed.
• Create and manage budgets for related funds (e.g., capital, fiscal agents, financial aid, etc.) and prepare budget modifications as needed.
• Advise, train, and answer questions to college stakeholders of financial processes and procedures.
• Complete annual audit requests, such as schedules, analysis, and related financial footnotes.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Minimum one to three years of occupational experience involving the creation and maintenance of accurate and detailed accounting records.
• Basic understanding of GAAP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel).
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with changes in accounting standards and regulations (e.g., attending workshops, obtaining CPE credits).
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the District’s standard insurance policy.Preferred Qualifications
• Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
• Previous experience in a similar role within an educational institution or a nonprofit organization.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, complex formulas).
