ParticipantThe City of Tomah seeks an experienced, collaborative, and highly skilled finance professional to serve as its next Treasurer. The ideal candidate will be an approachable, detail-oriented leader with exceptional financial acumen, sound judgment, and a commitment to transparency, accountability, and outstanding public service. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to the City Administrator, Mayor, and Common Council while safeguarding the City’s financial resources and ensuring the highest standards of fiscal stewardship.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in municipal finance, budgeting, accounting, treasury management, financial reporting, investments, payroll administration, and regulatory compliance. They will possess strong analytical and organizational skills, communicate complex financial information clearly, and build productive working relationships with elected officials, employees, auditors, financial institutions, and community partners. The ideal candidate will embrace continuous improvement, support strategic financial planning, and help position the City for long-term financial stability while contributing to Tomah’s continued growth and exceptional quality of life.
Expected Hiring Range: $90,000 to $100,000 (DOQ)
Excellent benefits package and enrollment in Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS).
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
CPA, CPFO, CPFA, or Wisconsin Municipal Treasurer certification preferred.
Five years of progressively responsible governmental finance or municipal accounting experience.
Demonstrated experience in budgeting, accounting, treasury management, payroll, financial reporting, investments, and municipal finance.
Knowledge of Wisconsin municipal finance laws, GASB standards, and generally accepted accounting principles.
